Privacy Policy - pdf-inspector.wiki
Last updated: August 12, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to pdf-inspector.wiki ("this site"), the introduction site for the open-source pdf-inspector project. We take privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we process when you use this site, and how.
2. Core promise: files never leave your device
The online parsing demo on our home page runs on the official WebAssembly build of pdf-inspector. Parsing happens entirely in your browser:
- Your PDFs are never uploaded — parsing completes on your device
- We cannot access your file contents — nothing collected, stored, or analyzed
- Results live only in your browser — gone when you refresh
This is a design principle of pdf-inspector itself (fully local parsing), and it's why we chose to embed the official parser.
3. What we collect
- Technical data: hosting providers may automatically log basic access records (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for performance monitoring and security only
- Analytics: this site uses Google Analytics to record anonymized traffic patterns (page views, coarse geography), not linked to personal identity
- Local storage: we do not use Local Storage for your PDFs or parsing results; the theme may store appearance preferences (e.g. light/dark mode)
4. Third-party services
This site loads static resources through third parties (such as font CDNs) and uses Google Analytics for traffic statistics. Those services may log basic request data governed by their own privacy policies. When linking out to GitHub, npm, PyPI, crates.io, or other sites, their respective policies apply.
5. How information is used
Basic technical data may be used solely to keep the site available, analyze aggregate traffic to improve content, and meet legal obligations. It is never sold or rented, nor used for any other purpose.
